I am using firefox 24.0 from a virtual machine to connect to my cisco ASA firewall. I added the ip adress of my firewall as a trusted source (as far as i know) but it is still saying that the connection to the website is untrusted.

Who is the issuer of the certificate?

A certificate is only trusted if Firefox can build a certificate chain that ends up with a built-in root certificate. So you would need to install this root certificate.
Maybe you can export this certificate via another browser that work and import the certificate in the Firefox Certificate Manager.
