[Firefox 24/25, Ubuntu, Win7] Firefox automatically switches to new tab, even though options for this are off. How to prevent this?

Hello there.

Clean install of ubuntu 13.10, I configure everything, firefox keeps opening tabs and switching automatically. Turned off the checkbox in preferences, set browser.tabs.loadBookmarsInBackground, true, problem seemed solved. However some youtube ads and google ad links I click (first I did so by mistake, now to test) keep forcing the ever-annoying auto switch to the new tab.

Tried the same with a win7 laptop, both unupdated and 25.0 Firefox, same thing

Tried loadBookmarksInBackground as true and browser.load.loadDivertedInBackground as true and it seems to work now! Tried it with some youtube ads and twitch.tv, so far so good.
