Somehow, something changed. Now when I open Firefox it immediately goes to this page: http://www.nationzoom.com/?type=sc&ts=1385788029&from=tugs&uid=ST1000LM024XHN-M101MBB_S2WZJ90CB50756B50756

I have changed my home page to what it was before, (MSN.com) but it will not default to what I specify as my "home page" to open to.

I cannot get the above link to stop opening on default. Why?

Hello bhocha,

I have experienced the same extensive problems with Firefox, you have. I followed all the instructions here and from other sites and it easily fixed Chrome, Opera and IE. But like you, my Firefox still opened up with Nationzoom. I then found the cause here C:\Programmer\MozillaFirefox\browser\searchplugins all that was left was a nationzoom XML-document, I deleted it and the problem was solved.

After resetting all of my browser shortcuts Firefox was still not operating correctly. Used the Search Reset Tool and this resolved some of the problems and FireFox still didn't work properly.

Had to use:

Try the following:

   Close Firefox completely
   Open Internet Explorer
   Click Tools
Select Manage Add-ons from the drop-down list
   Select the Search Providers category
Remove all search providers, except for Google, Bing, and Websearch
Set Google or Bing as the default
   Close the manager
   Click Tools
Select Internet Options from the drop-down list
   Select the General tab
Set the homepage to the default
   Click Ok
   Restart your computer

This sounds unusual, see as they involve Internet Explorer and not Firefox. Some Internet Explorer issues have been known to affect Firefox.

I had to delete nationzoom AGAIN from IE Search Providers.

After restart all is good.

Glad all steps above worked

Be sure to get rid not only of Nation Zoom, but these programs as well, it seems that they are used to spread Nation Zoom!! Wsys Control, Extended Protection, eSave Security Control, Desk 365.

Well the same hijacker had infected into my computer. I tried googling how to remove the same. What I got everywhere was some websites' links that were claiming to remove this "nationzoom" by running their antimalware tools.

Well guys I tried all those but none worked. Then I myself found the solution; I'm here sharing with you:

1) At first delete all the browser shortcuts you're having on your screen, start menu and taskbar.

2) Now for chrome go to C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application here you must find chrome.exe application double click it and if the "nationzoom" page opens up then go to Settings and Click on "set pages" there you change your homepage nationzoom.com to google.com Also in the settings only change your omnibox search engine to "google.com" Now close google chrome and restart it through the same C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application location only. The nationzoom must disappear now!! Now right click on "chrome.exe" and click "create shortcut" now paste this shortcut to desktop, and so on create shortcuts on your taskbar and start menu.

3) Follow the same steps with Firefox and IE.

4) For Firefox if the same doesn't work then follow these steps: Open Firefox Click on "Firefox" button on the top left and then "Help" then "Trobleshooting Information" now on top right you must click "Reset Firefox" On clicking "Reset Firefox" if it opens up a window/pop-up to check some options, make sure you check all those strictly and go ahead. Nationzoom must disappear now.
