Firefox v27 now times out accessing a secure site

more options

Moving from v26 to v27 Firefox no longer has access to a secure site (Timeout with connection reset message). Critical problem as my customers can no longer get to the checkout if they use the latest version of FireFox. When it stopped working I went to another machine (both Windows 7 64 bit) running v26 and it worked fine - then updated to V27 (the ONLY thing that changed was the update) and it stopped working. Both machines access the secure server via IE11 without a problem.

Just had a message from my shopping cart system support and they confirm that v27 does prevent access to the secure server (so nothing to do with my machines or network -its a Firefox bug).

Does anyone know when this critical error introduced in v27 is likely to be fixed?

Many thanks.

hello, would you be able to provide a link to the page in question?

Hi Philip - go to pulsarproductions.com.au add any item to the cart and on the cart page click checkout button - this is when it goes to the secure server and will hang. Try again with IE11 and you will see it works. Many thanks, Peter

i can reproduce it also when going directly to https://secure.server101.com.

i think it's related to bug #901718 which landed in firefox 27. you should also contact the technical support of your payment provider about this issue, since it seems there server configuration needs updating to be compatible with the latest security standards: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=https%3A%2F%2Fsecure.server101.com%2F&hideResults=on

That server is a big challenge in current Firefox releases.
I get it to work if I disable this cipher key on the about:config page:

security.ssl3.rsa_des_ede3_sha = false
  • secure.server101.com: Connection Encrypted: High-grade Encryption (SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5, 128 bit keys)

The secure.server101.com server definitely needs to update their server software to support more modern ciphers

Since updating to V27 *ALL* internet access has slowed to a crawl on 2 machines. Doesn't matter if a secure site or normal site. Sometimes it takes several minutes for a page to fully load. Almost impossible to shop on Amazon as it takes minutes for a response. NOT Good
