My emails (from bthomson@web.ca) to my wife (hstevens@rogers.com) are being blocked on her computer running Thunderbird. It happens whether I send them from Thunderbird myself or from Maildroid on my phone or tablet. All my other many many emails are getting through but not mine to her. I can't find a block instruction in her (or my) Thunderbird software which does this.

I am a long, long, time user of Thunderbird. A hearty "thank you" to all who have made it such a good email client.

I have just replaced a computer with a new computer, part of the replacement process was reinstalling Thunderbird. I have a protonmail email account, so that necessitated also installing and linking Proton Mail Bridge. It was not a happy union. The new account was set up and would not link to Bridge. Wound up deleting and recreating the account. This time the two recognized each other.

Unfortunately, as things rest now, under the protonmail account there is only an "Inbox", no Drafts, Sent, Archives, Junk, or Trash. Those folders do appear under "Local Folders" and I was able to redirect protonmail activity to there to be able to use Thunderbird.

I am unable to drag and drop those folders to the main Protonmail account, nor am I able to create a new Drafts, Sent, etc., in that account.

I would appreciate any advise you can give me for getting Thunderbird back to its proper operating condition.

Thank you in advance, Robin Lake

I've been attempting for hours now to setup Outlook 2010 to map with my BT Office365. I've tried every setting under the sun including the mapped one on Thunderbird. 2010 does not have starttls so don't think it's possible anymore.

Before Outlook would pull and download all my emails from 365 no problem.

Is there a work around to do this as there is no export facility in the office subscription I have. Perhaps an extension or software piece that could do this may also be helpful.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Niki

Using Thunderbird (and LOVE it!!!.) Not sure what happened but on one of my accounts I started getting the message when I checked for email:

"Sending of username did not succeed. Mail server [server name] responded: invalid format for plain response. "

I have 2 other email accounts on that same server that work fine in Tbird, as did this one until yesterday. Looked at server settings for other accounts that worked and compared to this one. Don't see anything different (other than name and pw obviously)

Hello all,

I've spent some time testing and trying to figure this out myself but without success. Epic fail some would say.

I'm running Thunderbird 128.4.3esr (64 bits) under Rocky Linux 8.10 (Green Obsidian) installed via Flatpak (Mozilla Thunderbird Flatpak en-US, thunderbird-flatpak - 1.0).

I have multiple IMAP accounts all set to empty trash on exit.

When I quit Thunderbird, I can see the actions it's performing in the bottom right among which I do read « Corbeille vidée » (trash cleared) for each account. But these trashes are not actually emptied.

I first thought it was not working at all but after more testing it seems like it does work but only for the trash that I've looked into before leaving the app (click on trash in the sidebar to display the message list it contains).

If I remember correctly it was working fine when installed from Rocky repo.

If anyone has any idea on the why and, even better, has a solution, that would be great.

Regards, Charles

Greetings everyone,

since the upgrade to 128, chats and the motd from the IRC server are only displayed sporadically. I had hoped that this would be fixed in one of the updates, but so far this is not the case. Sometimes nothing is displayed when opening Thunderbird, sometimes only the chats (chat rooms) and sometimes a motd of the IRC server. Maybe someone can help me fix this so that everything is displayed as usual again.

I am using Thunderbird version 128.4.3esr (64-bit) under Windows 10 Pro 22H2 with Windows Defender. The settings for the chat, that it is connected and that there are also unread messages that are not displayed, I put in the attachment.

Having already experienced terminal problems with Thunderbird under Ubuntu Studio 22.04 LTS, I opted to install Betterbird 115.17.0-bb35 (flatpak) in my fresh installation of Ubuntu Studio 24.04.1 LTS. I followed the instructions in the README on github to migrate my 9.5GB non-flatpak Thunderbird profile to betterbird. However, betterbird spent hours re-downloading everything. On every subsequent start, the downloading starts over again form scratch. In addition, the numerous folders that I had under Local Folders are gone. Instead, there is one folder which contains a bunch of messages that do not belong there. I have tried numerous workarounds from various sources on the web. My last experiment consisted of starting betterbird with the "-purgecaches" option using a profile made by copying my old Thunderbird profile but excluding:

  • everything with "cache" in the name
  • all .msf files
  • all empty files and directories

However, the results were the same. Unfortunately, I don't have a recent enough backup of the profile to be useful. The profile contains only IMAP accounts and Local Folders. What is the best way to get a working new profile containing as much as possible of the data form the old one?

While deleting blocks of inbox messages the screen view suddenly went to full screen. By this i mean i have the menu bar at the top and the space bar on the left, the rest of the screen is the actual message that was originally highlighted. (i suspect fat finger syndrome and extra keys pushed) but i can not get back to the classic view even though it is ticked in the view/layout menu no matter what i try. all possibilties in the view menu explored, app restarted just came back to full screen. i have searched help database and cant find anything else to try. To all intents it is locked on this screen and i cant find a way out.
