In Firefox, are you viewing your PDF in the built-in PDF viewer? You can check whether it makes any difference to use the Adobe Acrobat plugin. This article has the steps to switch between them: View PDF files using Firefox’s built-in viewer.

(I just installed Firefox 30, so my results may not be relevant to Firefox 29, but the images look the same to me in the viewer and in the stand-alone Adobe Reader.)

Yes, I was using the built-in PDF viewer, and have in the past without this problem.

Good to hear your not seeing what I am seeing. My concern is others will have the same problem I'm having and I don't want them to see this page viewing this way.

Has the built-in PDF viewer been changed lately?

I think the PDF viewer is updated along with Firefox itself, as it is incorporated into the program. The exception would be if you are using the pdf.js extension, which usually is a more updated version of the viewer that will be rolled into Firefox in the future.

In case the image glitch indicates an incompatibility with your graphics card driver, do you want to try disabling Firefox's use of hardware acceleration? You can do that in the Options dialog.

  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

This change takes effect after you exit and start up Firefox again.

Thanks this helps me out I just there are not too many others experiencing the same problem as I really don't want my graphics to display badly.

Whoops, when I view it in Firefox 29 on a different system, it looks bad. It's as though someone cranked up the contrast to an extreme, whiter whites and blacker blacks. Not sure why the viewer is doing this. I will update to Firefox 30 on this computer later (too much going on at present).
