How do I fix my bookmarks now that Sync wrecked them
How do I restore my original desktop bookmarks back to pre-sync?
My intent was to push the desktop settings to the laptop...but ended up with a scrambled mashup of both the desktop and laptop. I have a meeting in 4 hours and I needed the laptop to have all my settings and now both are a cluster foxtrot.
I can't even begin to tell you how disappointing this feature is. The interface is weak on info and the video pathetic as far as a "how to" video. The damage is done before you even realize you've scrambled the two together...not a mention of what is about to happen. To call the sync interface bare bones is an understatement.
Why isn't there a toggle to mirror only 1 device on initial setup? Why would you assume everyone wants to scramble the two devices?

hello, go into the bookmarks library, import & backup and restore a bookmark set before the first sync that caused the problems took place.
Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer
I suspect a restore will wipe out all the bookmarks made since the sync. I've since discovered that sync wrecked all the settings on my desktop in addition to wrecking bookmarks.
At this point it seems safest to try and setup the desktop back to the way I had it before, delete FF completely from the laptop, reinstall and then try sync...praying it doesn't wipe the desktop clean by mirroring the fresh install on the laptop.
FF Sync is very destructive in it's current setup. If I had known it was going to modify the desktop PC, which was what I wanted mirrored, id have never used it. There needs to be more documentation on what it's going to do if you use it -OR- toggles to push one direction only on initial sync.
You may have to delete all places.sqlite files (sqlite-shm and sqlite-wal as well) to recover from this issues.
