Even though my settings have it checked off as "Warn me when closing multiple tabs." it doesn't do so. This becomes an issue when i accidentally click the X when dragging the slider up when when I'm trying to find my mouse pointer.

Hi Funkimonster , Please try the following to eliminate the issues:

Uninstall the older plugins you have in the profile, it can cause issues:

Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0

Shockwave Flash 11.7 r700 Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 12.0.7.148 Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 12.1.2.152

Next please check that this does not happen in Safe Mode to make sure its not an add on or a hardware acceleration: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode

Next please try these troubleshooting steps: How to fix preferences that won't save

Note that if you use "Show my windows and tabs from last time" that Firefox won't ask when closing Firefox because the windows will be restored automatically. This is the safest and recommended setting though because it ensures that session restore works correctly in more cases.
