I clicked on a link in an e-mail to create a message to the person associated with the link and Thunderbird vanished from my screen. I cannot 'open' Thunderbird. I still have the shortcut on my homepage. The best info that I can find is that something is not compatible. Since I changed nothing, I do not know where to look for a 'fix'. The Thunderbird account is used for my office e-mail and there are 2 accounts. I can only view 1 of them from our server. I am using the server for one account. It will automatically delete opened e-mails and so I am losing important info. I know there is a reason. I cannot figure out what it is!

I have no idea what that means. If you want to reply to the sender, why don't you simply choose 'Reply'?

I cannot 'open' Thunderbird.

What does this mean? What happens when you try to open Thunderbird?

something is not compatible

I guess you can be more specific than that?

The Thunderbird account

There is no such thing as a 'Thunderbird account'.

The ... account is used for my office e-mail and there are 2 accounts.

One or two accounts?

I can only view 1 of them from our server.

What are you talking about?

I am using the server for one account.

What are you talking about?

It will automatically delete opened e-mails and so I am losing important info.

What is deleting emails? It can't be Thunderbird, since you said you cannot open it. If messages are automatically deleted from the server even though you don't even open Thunderbird, talk to your corporate IT folks. Sounds like something is wrong there to me.

I know there is a reason.

You're not wrong.

I received a forwarded e-mail and wished to contact the person referenced the the forward. Usually I can click on such a link and a new e-mail window will open already addressed to that person.

Basically, NOTHING HAPPENS when I click on the Thunderbird icon. I could see 'write new message' and 'open address book'. I could see those options for a couple of seconds. If I clicked on either of them (I did try both of them)

I cannot be more specific about what was not compatible as the drop-down did not have the version of Windows that I use. Trying different answers, as you might expect, provided different answers.

I have two e-mail addresses that appear simultaneously in my Mailbox for incoming messages. I accessed our server to view my e-mail. It was set up to receive only one e-mail address. It also automatically deletes the e-mails shortly after they are opened in the server.

If I had a corporate IT person, I would not have groveled in front of the world to ask for assistance for this challenge. I obviously appear to be incredibly stupid. Sure glad that I wrote that I recognized that the computer only followed a command and that there was a reason. I do know that computers do not just lose things willy-nilly.

I am sorry to have bothered you. In the meantime, I resolved the problem on my own. Have a good evening everyone.
