Privacy tab - "Customs settings for history" does not work.

4. Check mark Accept cookies from sites. Set Accept third – party cookies to Always and Keep until they expire.

5. Clear history when Firefox closes should be unchecked. Click OK The new settings are not retained. This is keeping me from logging into a website where these settings are needed.

That are the default settings. Firefox will only show "Use custom settings for history" when at least one setting is not the default, so in your case you get Firefox will remember history because all setting have the default value.


Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
