Thunderbird 38.1.0 running IMAP with gmail. It seems that, when I delete a message from my inbox, it is also permanently deleted from my sent mail (I sometimes copy myself on sent emails as a flag for follow up by seeing them in my inbox). All I want is to delete the inbox copy, not the sent mail copy (so I can find that later with search). Is this a Thunderbird setting issue? I've looked through help threads and don't see it, so appreciate any help on this.

That isn't my issue. TB does delete the inbox copy. The issue is that it also deletes other copies I want to keep, e.g., the copy in sent mail in my Gmail All Mail folder. As a workaround, I changed my TB account settings to also archive all sent mail in a local folder, and that doesn't seem to get wiped out, so I'm guessing this is some IMAP behavior.
