When I start in safe mode it works fine. Refreshing firefox didn't help though.

or in case this doesn't solve the issue or there is no new version available at the moment, disable hardware acceleration in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > general (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

I have the same problem. I downloaded the driver and it wouldn't install. It said that my computer HP EliteBook 2450P running Win 7 Professional 64 bit doesn't meet minimum requirements.

I then went to the menu ≡ > options > advanced > general page and turned off hardware acceleration, then restarted Firefox. No cure from that either.

Are there other approaches?

Actually, I erred in the last bit. Turning off HW acceleration did work. I apparently neglected the restart of Firefox.

On the other hand, it would be nice not to lose that feature.

thank you bfotk, you can also take a more targeted approach: reenable hardware acceleration but enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named gfx.direct2d.use1_1, double-click it and change its value to false instead. again this will take a restart to take effect...

Prologue: I find it interesting that that the support page would like me to click Yes or No in answer to "Was this helpful to you?" When clearly that's not something that I can answer immediately. "Get back to me later" would be a good option. Maybe I can do that on my own.
