Java's website is saying in order to run applets I will have to permit Java DT to run. How do I do that
I work out of my home and need Firefox to do my job and just got a new computer running Windows 10. However, when I try to open up my schedule I get a Tubesock error applets are not responding and my computer freezes up and then about 30 secs later running script issue pops up. I tell it to stop script then it finally unfreezes but still want let me pull my schedule or talk to anyone in the chat room. Everyone I ask tells me it is coming from Firefox and that I would need to downgrade my version of Firefox. However, I don't know how to do that. I did some more research and found that Java has advised of the following Why I am not able to run the Java Uninstall tool and the Java verification applet? (SOUND LIKE MY PROBLEM) The Java Uninstall Tool and the Java verification applet uses the Java DT to do Java version detection on the user system. If Java DT is blocked by browser (like Firefox) than these applets will not run. In order to run these applets the user will have to permit Java DT to run in browsers. I already have my plugin for Java(TM) Platform SE 8 U73 to ALWAYS ACTIVATE However, I have a plugin for Java Development toolkits 8.0.730.2 click to play blocked for my protection.
I am assuming this is the plugin I need in order to run my program and this is where JAVA DT is all about. I not sure hopefully you can give m e a solution to this BIG problem because I can figure this out.

Still haven't had a response to the above and now Java has done another update and still not working. I am forced to use IE browser.

By blocking the Java DT plug-in, the Java version detection mechanism is disabled. Therefore, when a user tries to launch a Java applet or application, that requires a specific Java version other than the active Java version on a user’s system, it will fail. Well I am having a problem with an applet so since Mozilla has this toolkit blocked on this browser my schedule want work. This is the strangest thing I have seen in a while. When reading why Mozilla blocked it just makes me scratch my head as well. It seems as though they noticed some security issues with it so instead of just blocking what was causing the security issue you decided to block the complete toolkit not care who it may effect. All I can say is WOW. Anyway. I really want this plugin looked into because Java has made many updates but it doesn't seem that Mozilla has address this issue since last year. Please responded to my question and concern as soon as possible.
Most sites do not use the Java Deployment Toolkit plugin, but some do. That plugin can be enabled on a site-by-site basis. Is yours set to "Ask to Activate" on the Add-ons page? To check, either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. On the right side, if you do not see Java Deployment Toolkit in alphabetical order, scroll down to the bottom and change its permission from "Never Activate" to "Ask to Activate".
If you changed that, revisit the problem page and reload. Any improvement?
Typically if a site wants to use a plugin that has been set to Ask to Activate, Firefox detects this and displays a plugin notification icon toward the left end of the address bar (looks like a small gray Lego block). If you click that, you can give the site temporary or ongoing permission to use the plugin.
If Firefox is not detecting the request, try setting the permission using the Permissions panel of the Page Info dialog. You can call that up using any of these:
- right-click a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Permissions
- (menu bar) Tools menu > Page Info > Permissions
- click the padlock or "i" icon to the left of the site address, then the ">" icon, then More Information > Permissions
Near the top, you'll find "Activate Plugins" and you can uncheck the "Use default" box and select Allow for that plugin. Then reload the page and see whether it kicks in.
