Full error message is Secure connection failed

Accounts.google.co.uk uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. The server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certficates. An additional root certificate may need to be imported. Error code: < a id=”errorCode” title =”SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER”>SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER</a>

None of the solutions so far offered work. Deleted file cert8.db. - no difference.

That sounds like avast or one of the other hacker anti virus programs to me. What do you use?

No, I just have the normal Norton Security, and never any trouble until I went for this Two Step Verification because Amazon now require it.

Well you have nominated the most likely cause of your trouble. Any security product from Symantec is almost guaranteed to cripple your mail client following every update because of the say they design their firewall and other components.

Norton also have a password vault that messes mightily with other programs other than web browsers. Symantec products appear to be only tested with Microsoft products.

A friend told me to clear my cache, and that did it. Thanks for your help. Norton had nothing to do with it.
