Server Settings page hangs

While trying to change the Gmail account server settings "authentication method" from "normal password"to "Oauth2", I've discovered that my Thunderbird client seems to hang if I navigate to the "Account Settings" -> "Server Settings" page.

If I access any other account settings page, things work normally. But if I access the "Server settings" page for any of the 4 accounts (one of which is gmail), the panel hangs. The "OK" button clicks, but nothing happens. Other controls (checkboxes, radio buttons, etc.) on the page seem to function. I can click on other pages in the left panel, but the right panel remains on the "Server Settings". The "Cancel" button does cancel the screen.

This happens on all 4 accounts, only one of which is gmail (with imap). Curiously, the "Copies & Folders" page for the gmail account has "No available folders" all over it -- I don't know if this is related or merely a symptom of some other problem.

Try to start Thunderbird in safe mode. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird

The problem exists in safe mode. Using safe mode does not resolve the problem.

Since the account is IMAP all mail is on the server.

You could try deleting the account in Thunderbird, restart Thunderbird, and then re-create the account in Thunderbird.

The flip side is, if you had synchronization turned on, you'd need to download the offline copy for your entire email archive once again.

Whether deleting and re-creating the account will ultimately fix your problem I don't know.

Removing the GMail account did not resolve the problem. The "Server Settings" pages for the remaining 3 accounts still hangs the account settings interface; only the "Cancel" button is effective.

Do you still see the problem for the Gmail account after re-creating it?

more options

I have not re-created the Gmail account; I have the 3 remaining non-Gmail accounts and they *still* see the problem (going to "Server settings" on the Account properties hangs the panel). Although I discovered this problem while trying to change the Gmail account's properties, I do not believe this problem is related to Gmail or the Gmail account (since I presently have no Gmail account defined and am still seeing the problem).

Do you have cookies enabled in Thunderbird? The oAuth2.0 setup uses them I think, when it pops up the authorization browser windows

more options

I haven't gotten to the point where I can specify OAuth2 yet, so I don't think the cookies are the problem. But yes, cookies are enabled.
