Firefox Search - Wrong Locale and Breaking Search?
Hi,
Bit of a strange one really, searching from my Address Bar / Search bar in Firefox doesn't work. Through trial and error I've narrowed it down to this:
1 - I search my query in the address bar, e.g. 'Test'
2 - Firefox creates my URL query for Google: https://www.google.com/search?q=test&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-ab
3 - Firefox continues to search indefinately and never loads my Google Results.
4 - If I change the '.com' part to '.co.uk' leaving the rest of the URL as is, Google loads instantly.
Also, I am behind a Firewall (corporate network), disabling the firewall the .com version (i.e. direct search from the address bar) does work, however for obvious reasons I cannot / should not disable my corporate firewall.
I've looked for solutions to change the default search from .com to .co.uk but as far as I can tell, Firefox does not allow you to do this?
What is my solution? Unfortunately, this is an extremely useful part of a browser and I fear without a solution (as trivial as this may seem) I may have to return to Chrome.
Thanks

hi, you could try installing a dedicated search provider for google.co.uk from http://mycroftproject.com/search-engines.html?name=Google&category=12&country=GB
