I understood that Firefox is working with the latest version of the JAWS screen reader, 2018. But on my system the text of web pages is not being read at all. This is also true with the latest NVDA screen reader. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox. What else can I try?

You may have to disable multi-process to make JAWS work.

You can disable multi-process windows in Firefox 58+ by setting this pref to false on the about:config page.

  • browser.tabs.remote.autostart = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
