Home page not always loading

After re-activating my laptop from Sleep Mode, clicking the Firefox icon on my lower app bar does not always open my Yahoo home page (see attached image). Instead I get a blank page with "New Tab" and the Home icon displaying. When I click on the "Home" icon on " New Tab", my Yahoo Home page appears. This has been occurring for the last couple of weeks.

Try to setup your homepage. May be your current home page is blank page (about:blank)

My Home Page is Yahoo, NOT a blank page. The Yahoo Home page has been loading ok up until a couple of weeks ago. I made Yahoo my Home page again today, just to test whether this problem still is occurring, AND IT IS STILL HAPPENING! It is not happening every time, but often enough.

It is possible that the internet connection hasn't been re-established or that security software isn't ready and blocks internet access when Firefox awakes and tries to load the home page, so maybe use the builtin Firefox Home page instead.

There were several reports last week from users who use Yahoo as their home page and it didn't open at startup. The Home button would open it, it would open in a new window, everything worked except startup.

Users reported success with some workarounds, but I don't think it was completely solved. I don't remember anyone mentioning resuming from sleep; maybe that is a factor?

Workaround #1: change your home page custom URL to just yahoo.com -- for some reason, this worked for a couple of users. (Example)

Workaround #2: reinstall using a full/offline installer from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release (Example) -- please check all the selectors on that page to make sure you are getting the right installer for your system and language
