I don't add many buttons to my menu bar: print, add bookmark, IE8 tab and add to favorites. They keep disappearing.

I was right in the middle of something important, looked up to open the page in IE so that I could use HP Printer before printing something and all buttons gone again. Is there anyone out there who might know the problem?
