Crashes...tried in safe mode and didn't crash. Removed and re-stalled using NONE of the old profile info or add-ons. Added no add-ons, disabled graphics acceleration, still crashes unless in safe mode.

That can be a problem with WebRoot software (WRusr.dll shows in the module list of the [https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/3048b268-5b33-420d-8d33-46aac2120318 crash report]).
WebRoot is not in the extensions list (I only see RoboForm), so you may need to check the settings in WebRoot or try to contact their support.

This browser must be the laughing stock of microsoft. Here are my crash reports; do they tell any of you experts anything that might assist in persuading me to perservere with firefox :-
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
mackatak,
Do you have any download extensions?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
