Why is Firefox getting a script error when I try to run/install the most recent version of Adobe Flash?

I have Windows XP v 5.1, Service pack 3. Flash v 10,3,183,5 installed. I went to Adobe's Install Flash Player, download the file, click on Run and then get a script error which stalls the process. Selecting Yes or No does not change anything. The install/run just hangs. By the way, I was able to download the latest flash via IE, so something is going on with FireFox. What do I need to do to eliminate this script error as follows?

IE Script Error An error has occurred in the script on this page. Line: 1 Char: 14486 Error: 'o.1' is null or not an object Code: 0 URL: http://127.0.0.1:1302/app/_js/index.js

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? Yes No

Is IE your default browser?

The address in that error is somewhat peculiar, in that it points to a process running on your computer (127.0.0.1 is a loopback address that points to your own system).

I suggest that after downloading and saving the Flash installer to a folder, you completely exit Firefox, and do the installation with Firefox closed in case having Firefox open is interfering in some manner.

Of course, make sure you get the official installer from Adobe, and uncheck the box for any tag-along software that you do not want:

You can find links to the latest Flash Player installer here:

You may have to run the Flash installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as ...) to get access rights for installing the files and modifying the registry.
