Firefox won't play certain videos, whereas Internet Explorer and Chrome will, can this be fixed?
For example, when I go to my online newspaper, lohud.com, I can play the videos they offer on Internet Explorer and Chrome but not Firefox. I heard the the problem is that Firefox is not always compatible with Shockwave Flash 11.5 but I don't know how to fix it. I have Windows Vista and a Sony Vaio VGN-NS190J laptop. My internet provider is Optimum.com and Yahoo is my homepage.

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.
Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.
To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.
Thanks for your answer but all my plug-ins are up to date already so that isn't the problem.
In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:
- From the Firefox window click the Firefox button at the top left and select Add-ons, or, if the Firefox button is not shown, click the Tools menu and click Add-ons.
- Once the Add-on Manager has opened in a new tab, click the Extensions button on the left side of the window.
- You should now see a list of your installed extensions on the right side together with buttons on the right side of each extension.
- To remove an extension from Firefox, simply click the Remove button. You should see a message that informs you about the successful removal of the add-on.
- Note that some add-ons require a Firefox restart to be removed completely. To perform a Firefox restart after the add-on removal, click the Restart now link in the message.

I appreciate your taking the time to try to solve my problem with getting firefox to play certain videos that I am able to see on chrome and internet explorer. Thanks for trying to help but it's not an unwanted extension that's causing the problem and frankly, it's not that big a deal.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
You were right, thank you very much.
Thanks for the right information.
Great help, much obliged.
