INFO: How to create a Mozilla Support account to comment on an existing Question.
For other people having the same Issue:
Goto https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/users/auth and click on "ASK A QUESTION".
The wizard will require you to type in a new question, and the Third step is to create an account.
FYI: I only created this question so that I could create my account and intend to delete it and move it to the correct feedback area.
Apparently, there isn't a forum for comments on the site itself though, So I'm leaving this in place to help other users figure out how to join us.
I found a thread that I want to comment on and did not have any reason to create a separate question.
I decided that this issue was actually worth registering for, went to the sign in page, and then only figured out how to register by sheer stubbornness.
Support.mozilla.org is supposed to be here for average users to ask questions and provide feedback, but It almost looks like you're actively trying to discourage input.
WHY?

You don't need to ask a question in order to register for an account.
Feel free to vote for the report to keep track of any progress, but please don't post comments unless you have technical information to add. See the Bugzilla etiquette page for details.
- Bug 1004969 - Add signup / registration link to the Sign In page

This is a place to ask and answer support questions.
If you have comments or suggestions, open the Help menu and choose Submit Feedback (or click the ≡ Menu Button, then the Question Mark icon, then Submit Feedback).
Many users got hung up trying to register and never got to ask their question, so the order was switched.
The forum is constantly being tweaked, so thank you for pointing out a different use case.
To comment on the forum itself, you can post on the "Contributors" forum. I'm not sure whether you can see that now or whether you need to sign up as a contributor first, but you would find it under "Contributor Tools" at the top of each page.
Thanks for the direct link.
Where exactly did the site developer hide the link to https://support.mozilla.org/users/authcontributor ?
I'm not exactly a novice forum user, and I couldn't find it.
Neither can google apparently.

Sure, there's a bug report and change request, but I shouldn't have to sign up for ANOTHER mozilla page (bugzilla) in order to comment there.

Why not have both? A "Register for an account" button right under "forgot your password?" would solve the issue completely.
This seems to be a big issue with the current FF dev culture, they are so busy trying to make thing "easier" that they've forgotten that there are standard options.
Internet users are already trained to look for a signup or register button.

Technically, the link above is the link to register as a contributor but AFAIK regular users still use that link.

There's a bug filed for that: Bug 1004969

Why not? It's a separate site with different user levels/admins and maintainers. It's basically a new website that you have to register to use. Actually, you don't need to register, you only need to register if you want to comment or get CC'd in a bug report.
