I use IMAP email sync with the server. I have always checked "Keep messages for this account on this computer".

By mistake I deleted email address from server. I create it again with the same email name and password.

I opened Thunderbird and inbox is empty.

Where are the keeped messages?? How can I see them again?? Why is this option exists if can't see saved in computer inbox??

IMAP, always create a local copy, if your deleting from the Server it will be deleted from thunderbird too and vice versa.

Local copy for Offline usage, when you don't have the internet connection.

Is this true? So there is no backup?

I searched in my computer and find Inbox file in \Thunderbird\profiles\my default profile\ImapMail\Inbox

I opened Inbox file with notepad and I saw all emails stored in. Why can't see them at all?

Waste of time. I opened a new profile but the same thing happened.

Thunderbird can't see Inbox file properly. Inbox file has all mails inside and now has and new emails at the bottom of the file.

Thunderbird inbox shows only new mails and not the rest.

Try to restore from the Server Trash

I'd do the following: Install the ImportExportTools add-on. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/

Import the mail from the deleted account (i.e. from '\Thunderbird\profiles\my default profile\ImapMail\Inbox') into Local Folders. You may want to create a separate folder underneath Local Folders before.

Once imported, you can copy the messages back onto the IMAP server. Select the messages to be copied - right-click - Copy To Select the target account and folder.

The server doesn't hold trash. I checked it with the hosting company.

ImportExportTools add-on is very good but it seems that the Inbox file is damaged cause can't load any email, or something missing.

Anyway, I thought that Thunderbird would keep emails backup in my computer automatically. It's good that now I know that I must keep backup with ImportExportTools cause Thunderbird doesn't do that. Thunderbird must had an info about this, to warn people.

ImportExportTools have an option to automatically store backup every some days. Would be very nice if Thunderbird has this addon included.

Just to be clear about the Inbox file, in case somebody has the same problem in future.

When I try to load Inbox file (it's 26Mb) with ImportExportTools, it keeps loading forever. I waited for a long time but nothing seems to appear. Just keep loading...

this is an imap account. Why all the fussing and fiddling about with mail that will redownload from the server once the account is set up again?

All the fussing and fiddling is about this:

I create it again with the same email name and password. I opened Thunderbird and inbox is empty.

It seems the OP managed to also delete all the messages on the server. How, I have no idea.
