I use a couple of addons: Adblock plus, Disconnect and Stylish. However recently, Firefox has been defaulting to HTTPS on many websites (Reddit, Google, Facebook) which has been breaking my Stylish themes.

Is there a way to disable Firefox forcing HTTPS? Even if I retype the URL and remove the S, it still forces https.

Are you using bookmarks, or typing the addresses yourself?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar

Select Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

Hello I34z1k,

I don't know why you want to stop https connection. "HTTPS" stands for "Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure." It means that information exchanged between you and a web site is securely encrypted and cannot be hijacked by someone. Read more How do I tell if my connection to a website is secure?

Disabling https, is not an absolute solution in Firefox. Some sites will redirect and may not offer http.

However to choose one url over the other,there is an option you can disable autofill:

In order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps :

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
  3. In the filter box, type or paste autofill and pause while the list is filtered
  4. Double-click browser.urlbar.autoFill to toggle it from true to false.

Did this solve your problem? We will love to hear from you. Thanks.
