when I click to a new tab, the location of the cursor in the previous tab is lost

When I click on a link in a tab, the new tab opens as desired, but when I switch back to the previous tab, the tab has reverted to top of page and the cursor position is lost. Previously, the tab has remained as I left it. The tab is a news page and may have reloaded while I was looking at the new tab

If a website has instructed Firefox not to cache the page, then I think Firefox will not keep your place when reloading the page. Pages that want to always show fresh content may do that.

Does it make any difference if you right-click the link and use Open Link in New Tab instead of left-clicking it?
