Facebook video doe not show. I just get a series of text links on the left side of the page. Like this. I have cleared cache, reinstalled Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Shockwave Player This machine is still running XP. I have two other machines running XP, and they work OK. I suspect it has something to do with the Adobe programs, as they have been causing the machine to lock up frequently.

This is what I see when I connect to Facebook.

Please first make sure that it is not due to an add on or hardware acceleration by starting Firefox in Safe Mode:

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

This is really embarrassing.

The problem started when changed to a different profile. I use profile manager, one for regular surfing, one for financial where I have bank accounts, and other such items book marked, and one for testing, so I have different options selected for each profile.

When I went to the financial one, it came up with the error, and would not connect to support.mozilla.com

Then I discovered I could not get to the Comics Kingdom comics. and could not read the program text for the local PBS TV station, but could get to the website. But I could go to most websites except Facebook, where it gave me the text I posted, but no GIFs.

I went through all the suggestion you give, reinstalled Adobe Flash, updated Java, made sure I have the latest Shockwave, and ran a completes scan using Super Anti Spyware.

I had to use another computer to get to Mozilla support, and while reading it over, decided to check this computers data and time. I had checked it previously, but somewhere along the way a program that tried to install itself, must have changed it. In order to get rid of it, I had to edit the registry, and use the DOS command to delete several of its files.

So the main problem was the time stamp, the machine could not see the future. Strangely enough, Go Comics.com was OK, but Comics Kingdom was not. I still do not understand why I did not see the time error. I looked at the time at least three times, and it looked OK.
