Downloads window -- Show in Finder broken

Running FF 38.0.1 on OS X v10.10.3, the downloads window doesn't work right. Downloading works but I can't reveal completed download files in the Finder by clicking on the magnifier icon, or using the contextual menu.

During a download the entry looks normal -- shows the filename and the file type icon. But once it's done, the filename is replaced by a URL. At that point the magnifier doesn't work and the Show in Finder menu item is grayed out.

How do I fix it?

That is not how mine works. Are you using a download manager?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Oh, I forgot about that. Your Safe Mode comment reminded me to look through my add-ons again. One of them is designed to restore the dedicated downloads window that newer FF's have lost.

Having a dedicated, uncluttered downloads window was so convenient to make small and keep off to one side. I have an extension, "Downloads Window" which does that. So the problem is with the extension. Do you know of an alternative?

(I wish Mozilla would stop removing/burying/ruining essential features and functionality I rely on. They've alienated so many people in my company that FF is now the browser that elicits the most cries of disgust whenever mentioned. Hard to believe Explorer is no longer the favorite punching-bag.)

Do you have any Anti-Virus software running?

Download Status Bar {web link} If you are the kind of person who likes to have total control over every aspect of your downloads, "Download Status Bar" is the add-on you are looking for.

OK, thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try.
