FIRST - I HATE that you require registration just to ask a question. That is an onerous requirement. Please stop it!!!

TWO - You have the same problem all the time. You create features that are easy to turn on but very difficult to turn off. The Mozilla introduction to the new non-tracking feature claims that by clicking on the shield, you can bring up a menu to turn off tracking. THIS IS NOT TRUE. I was trying to turn tracking back on so that Netflix would allow me access. When I click on the shield , Firefox becomes OBSESSED with telling me that the Netflix connection is not trustworthy. OKAY, I GET IT. NOW LET ME CONNECT ANYWAY. No, it won't. The Mozilla example states that I can turn off tracking globally or just for this site. It shows a menu giving me those options and circles the DISABLE JUST FOR THIS SITE in red. No such menu exists. All I get is that obsession with Netflix being untrusted. I will have to go back to Chrome or IE just to watch Netflix without your damned obstructions that cannot be turned off, as Netflix requires. I am running Win 7 Pro and the latest Firefox. I don't recognize 1/10th of the plug-ins you think I have installed. I tried to upload a screen shot of 178 KB in size to help you out but it would not upload. Just kept rotating. Problems piled up on top of problems.

hi, the issue you've described with netfix there doesn't sound like the new tracking protection feature at work, but a general error with the secure connection, that we should investigate in order to address the root cause of it, since this should not happen under normal circumstances.

first please make sure that the date, time & timezone are set correctly on your system. if this doesn't solve the issue (or it is already set properly), a possible solution depends on different factors:

  • what is the error code shown under technical details on the error page?

in case the error code equals sec_error_unknown_issuer, please attempt to add an exception on the bottom of the error page in order to inspect the certificate like it is shown on the screenshot attached:

  • which issuer information does the certificate contain?

please report back with those two pieces of information. thank you!

If content that is involved (blocked) by tracking-protection would come via an open connection in addition of being hosted on a blocked server then disabling tracking-protection can cause other warnings to appear in case the main page is a secure HTTPS connection.

You can check the Net log and the Network log in the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) for details.

If cookie use Ctrl+F5 or Ctrl+Shift+R to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.
