I'm on a MacBook Pro6.2 running OS X(10.6.8) I'm using AOL as my email. When I start to enter my email Logon ID, it tries to autofill form every way I've typed that address. How do I turn off this autofill feature for the LogonID in AOL?

Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop-down list:

  1. click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list
  2. highlight an entry in the drop-down list with the mouse or cursor Down key
do not click the mouse or press the Enter key
  3. press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to delete the highlighted entry

It could be possible that AOL stores these entries on the server or in a cookie, so you have to look for such a remember feature.

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Rename (or delete) the formhistory.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder to delete all saved form data. You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

In the input field, enter a character. If anything shows up, highlight the entry using the arrow keys. Then press Delete. Repeat until everything is gone.

I tried the proposed solution to begin typing and select the name with the arrow keys. It will select one of them, but when I then hit delete it is still there.

Thank you very much. The missing data was that I had to use "Shift-Delete" on the Mac to get it to work. I was trying it with just the Delete key and it was deleting letters from the entry box.
