anyone notice bad results from google since mozilla's news about not accepting google's money?

I Have noticed a major decline in quality of searches, when using any search-engine involving google. like "powered by google"

It is ignoring key words and listing sites that do not have the key words at all, mixing in a couple of relevant ones.

example: PS4 minecraft most recent update info

Before the mozilla and google breakup. The most relevant info was foremost (actually got the updates info listed first, Usually most recent to old. but now its giving anything but the most relevant and even list sites that have nothing to do with PS4 or minecraft. On the first page no less.

I have to wonder are the firefox users getting shafted here? or is there something else going on?

I have also ran several malware programs, to see if malware was shaping my results. NADA.

It is a lot of different subjects, this is happening to, so I know its not exclusive to PS4 and minecraft. I even have trouble getting accurate results with environmental issues, politics etc . Things I search regularly about.

I did not have this problem prior to mozilla announcing its breakup with google.

hi frugal, this change of strategic partners happened over a year ago: https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2014/11/19/promoting-choice-and-innovation-on-the-web/ so what ever you're seeing now on google shouldn't be related to that...

I suggest comparing between:

  • Firefox regular window
  • Firefox private window (less likely Google will recognize you and personalize results)
  • IE or Chrome

Do you notice a lot of differences?

Also, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any difference? (More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode)
