GoDaddy imap: Login to server failed

more options

I have my go daddy email account configured on Thunderbird. Worked fine for months. Just recently, it repeatedly prompts me for a password and then I get a message that the login to the server failed. I've checked all account settings. Everything is as recommended. Eventually new mail will download, but very frustrating and time consuming to get the password prompt repeatedly and to have delays in receiving email. Web version of Go Daddy email works fine so it is not the password.

No other changes recently to my system.

Upgraded to current version of Thunderbird - did not help.

Thanks for any assistance.

We have been having the same errors in my office, 30 computers or so. The few with outlook work fine.

I believe a workaround is to edit the settings for each account in thunderbird and disable SSL for the incoming and outgoing server settings.

I tried that a little while ago on a few computers and it seems to be working, however I do not like having zero security. Would be nice if Mozilla addressed this issue. (Or if godaddy updated their servers to be more future compatible). Whichever it is.

Thank you for your post and confirming this as an issue. I am not comfortable with a workaround that requires reducing security either.
