How do I install an earlier version of FF?

I have the reversion 43 exe downloaded. Now how to I install it? Do I just run it and let it overwrite my current version?

Found this which I think answers my question. It sounds like it's a project to downgrade: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Go_back_to_an_old_version_of_Firefox

I'm having a problem with copy/paste and want to see if it appeared with the new version of FF, which I think it did.

I can copy from FF to Wordpad. But not to Word. In word the edit...paste is greyed out. When I first start Word the first paste works, but not after that. Doesn't matter if I cntrl-c or rightclick-c or menu-c. It's similar to the other new pasting problems others are reporting, but since it's not to youtube that fix doesn't work. Safe mode didn't fix it, so it's not addons. So next step in testing, see if it appeared when I recently updated. I tried changing some about entries for copy/paste/clipboard to false and false to true but that didn't do anything (and changed each back).

Thanks

Hi curls, Firefox 44 to Word 97 is your problem.

Firefox 44 reduced the number of formats it puts on the clipboard, dropping certain legacy formats. After release, several Word 97 users reported that Word 97 could not see any of the formats now available on the clipboard, and they had to use the workaround of pasting into a more modern application first, then cutting and pasting from there into Word 97.

This change will be rolled back in Firefox 45 (next month). If you want to experiment with Firefox Beta (Firefox 45 in its unfinished state) you can install from here: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/beta

For an older version, I suggest:

  • Use the Clean Reinstall procedure:

(A) Download an installer from a safe place (Install an older version of Firefox)

(B) Exit out of Firefox (if applicable).

(C) Rename the program folder as follows:

(32-bit Firefox on 64-bit Windows)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Fx44

(Other versions)

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

to

C:\Program Files\Fx44

(D) Run the installer you downloaded in step (A). It should automatically connect to your existing settings.

Can a cleanly reinstalled Firefox load that site normally?

Note: Some plugins may exist only in that Fx44 folder. If something essential is missing, look in these folders:

  • \Fx44\Plugins
  • \Fx44\browser\plugins

Oh thank goodness, that explains it... and better yet, will be fixed if I just wait it out.

Thanks for all the details on rolling back too. I'm more inclined for now to put up with, rather than risk messing up something by accident, but am relieved to know how to rollback if I want to (for this or for another problem in the future).

Thanks for such a clear explanation!!! and !!!! again.

I'll leave the question open a little longer in case something else comes in or it helps someone else to discuss.
