Since updating to Thunderbird 45 I cannot see who an email is "from" or the "subject" in the header. Also I have two "reply" buttons but no "reply all " button.

I can add a "reply all" button to the main toolbar at the top but if I right click the customise on the header it isn't an option to add (only: separator, space, forward as, tag, add as event, add as task). In fact when I exit customise having not selected anything, the buttons in the header go dark grey/blue and one of the two reply buttons is replaced by "smart reply" which doesn't do anything. If I open and close Thunderbird then I revert to the original buttons i.e. two reply buttons and no "reply all".

In the header there is a tiny icon top left (a square box with an arrow in one corner and a cross in) which doesn't appear to do anything.

Help appreciated.

Kind regards

Kate

I think a screenshot might be useful to understand what it is that has gone missing. I don't know if I understand where you look to see buttons and to/from/subject data together.

Hi, thanks. I've done a screenshot of your own reply which shows all the issues I'm having.

Kind regards

OK, gotcha.

It's all present and correct in mine, but I'm using a couple of add-ons that fiddle with this header. I'll have to try with it in Safe Mode, or with these particular add-ons disabled to see if I can replicate your issue.

Thanks, much appreciated.

All good here in Safe Mode. So, what add-ons do you have?

Does yours work better in Safe Mode?

The little icon at the top left (which I don't have) suggests to me you have an add-on that is affecting it.

You could post your settings here. To find the Troubleshooting information:

  • Open Help (or click on three-line-icon and select Help)
  • Choose Troubleshooting Information
  • Use the button Copy to clipboard to select all. Clear the check box labelled "Include account names".
  • Paste this in your post.

Ok, great. I tried safe mode and the headers are fine so by a process of elimination it seems to be Mnenhy add-on causing the problem. I would never have got there! Thanks so much.

That one has popped up a few times recently. I think TB45 has rendered it more-or-less useless. :-(
