I got a notice of a Java update. Installed it. The verification did not work. In add-ons> plugins IS NO JAVA AT ALL! It's no place else either. I have 50.1.0

Really don't understand how to verify my Java update, followed all trouble shooting on Java for Mozilla Firefox version. I checked in my list and there is no Java ( in tools /plugins) even though i believe I do have it, and found it in my control panel ( windows 7) so I am at a loss as to what to do. Please advise.

Note that only the Shockwave Flash plugin and Silverlight plugins are enabled for 64 bit Firefox versions for Windows. If you need to use other plugins like Java or media players then install the 32 bit Firefox release.

Plugin suppport has been dropped in Firefox 52 other than Flash. The upcoming Firefox 52 ESR version will keep the plug-in support enabled until May 2018. https://www.fxsitecompat.com/en-CA/docs/2016/plug-in-support-has-been-dropped-other-than-flash/

I did that, but it still is not verifying here is message: erify Java Version

We are unable to verify if Java is currently installed and enabled in your browser.

If you have installed Java and there is an error with the verification, there could be a configuration issue (eg. browser, Java control panel, security settings) or the Java plug-in is blocked by the browser. Try restarting your browser before trying to verify the installation again, and check that the browser allows Java to run.

Thanks I did download/install 32bit firefox and now I can verify the java. Presume it will be the case once firefox updates to 51 and 52.

Question, do you actually need the Java Plugin for anything? As you may as well keep it deactivated or click to play until you do need it, especially since it is a vulnerable Plugin.

Note the Java Plugin is not needed for JavaScript to work as some think due to the names. http://kb.mozillazine.org/JavaScript_is_not_Java
