Back on March 17th, just before retiring, I received an apparent Firefox notification suggesting I upgrade to 43.0. Since updates have typically been fast, I agreed and it apparently aborted. Since it was late, I went to bed, figuring to finish in the morning. In the morning, I downloaded the latest version of the browser from the Firefox download page (42. something, not 43.) and when I updated, it indicated it could not find my profile BUT there was a new folder on my desktop entitled "Old Firefox Data". After repeating the process a couple of times, I remembered I had ported my bookmarks to Opera several days earlier, so, desperate to get some work done, I switched to using Opera. Several weeks later, I got a Firefox notification that 43.0 was available, so I downloaded and installed it without incident. However, none of my previous profile was accessible and, in the meantime, I had added bookmarks in Opera. I was chagrined that Opera would let me export my bookmarks back to Firefox. So I wondered if someone had written an app to do that. If not, someone should!

Hi ,

Maybe you could follow the steps, described in this article :

http://help.opera.com/Windows/12.10/en/importexport.html

And/or you could consider this add-on :

https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/bookmarks-import-export/?display=en

That's where I started. The current Opera version (referenced in my post) does not have the export feature, only the import. Sort of like "Roach Hotel" (you have to be a certain age to appreciate the last remark.)

You're not on Opera version 43 then. But you should be able to save the bookmarks as a .html file on your local system.

That add-on doesn't work either   ?

Yea, I saw that but wondered how secure it is; what do you think? I'm no code jockey and am unliky to ever qualify as one. That's why I leaned towards something from the Mozilla community.

Opera updated since my post, although appears minor. It's now: 46.0.2597.57

See if they will let you export now   ?

By the way :   that add-on is recommended on the Opera forum, and I don't see why it shouldn't be secure   (i'm definately not a   'code jockey'  either   !)
