Mozilla sent me to inept computer group in Yuba, CA and now no bookmarks nor passwords and other odd condition so what do I do?

more options

Constant white covering page, constant "continue or script" popups and Mozilla sent us to Yuba, CA Chawla Tec Group there to find out what the problem was. End results: lost my passwords, bookmarks, and now encountering many other problems by this inept group. They even tried to switch my browser to either Microsoft or Google, rather than keep my Mozilla Fox. To date problems and no way to recover what I lost. Why does Mozilla send us to inept groups without checking their qualifications! How now do I get back my passwords and bookmarks as I was told by Chawla that there is no way. Arrgh!

What do you mean by; Mozilla sent us to Yuba, CA Chawla Tec Group ?

This does not sound like something Mozilla would do.

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86)

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Do Not remove the profiles folder.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them. Do not rename the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

The Crawla techs went back to the older Mozilla file but no way to recover passwords or bookmarks due to the damage done by one of their employer, who, thank God, was fired when I called in and told them what he had done in spite of my saying NO several times to what he shouldn't do and just went ahead and did it. In the old Firefox file only a few bookmarks were there, and no way to passwords, altho a tech from the tech firm tried to do more but the damage was too huge.

Yep, Mozilla sent me to this group so obviously needs to review groups used for quality and skills. Will see if the first above move works. If it does, fine but will hold my breath! I thought Mozilla had their own group, but obviously not.

How did Mozilla sent me to this group ? This forum is the official support for Firefox. Anything else may be a scam.

Please provide everything you can. Their contact information. How were you sent to them? . . . . . . . .

Mozilla (mozilla.org) the company that makes the Firefox web browser does not use any third-party tech support whether by phone, chat, email. Mozilla did try an experiment with a third-party service that did support by email, several years ago but it was short lived.

How did you find this vague "Yuba, CA Chawla Tec Group" website (what is link?) as was it during a search engine search like on Google.com?. You need to be careful as some search engines like Google can have such so called tech support sites in Ads above the Real search results.

The only official Mozilla support is at here https://support.mozilla.org, at Mozilla newsgroups https://www.mozilla.org/about/forums/ and also on IRC (server irc://irc.mozilla.org) https://wiki.mozilla.org/IRC

Hi Haessler, hopefully those people do not have your credit card number.

Windows may create a backup of your Firefox settings file when it installs monthly updates. That may provide an opportunity to recovery some data.

As you may know, your Firefox data is stored under this path:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

The AppData folder is hidden, so the first step is to set Windows to show hidden files and folders. See: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files

Then to more easily explore the latest restore point, I suggest using this program: http://nicbedford.co.uk/software/systemrestoreexplorer/

Using the Refresh feature change the specific folder name under the Profiles folder, so please check all of them for potentially recoverable data. Then save it to a neutral location (e.g., Desktop or Documents) and we can discuss how to restore it to your current Firefox profile. In particular:

  • contents of bookmarkbackups folder
  • password files (get both, they're a matched set): logins.json and key3.db
