For work, I regularly have to open web pages with PDFs, so in Firefox Options, General, Applications I select 'preview in Firefox' for Portable Document Files. Then it works for a few minutes and I am able to open these as Adobe PDF files, but after opening two or three of these pages, the next one I open doesn't display the PDF at all and I have to go back to Firefox Options, General, Applications where I see that is has reset itself to 'Use Adobe Reader (default).' Does anyone know of a way to make my selection 'stick.' I'm using Firefox Quantum, Windows 10

Hi, sounds like a hassle. Not sure what the issue is with that. This is a computer you have control over at work and have the permissions able to uninstall and reinstall and you do not need a Sys Admin ?

If so please : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.1 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Thanks for your reply. It's actually my own HP laptop. I work mostly from home using my own laptop. I have never run Windows Disk Cleanup before, but this is a new laptop -- only one month old, so maybe there's not too much that needs cleaning up. Excuse my ignorance, but when you say 'expect 10's of gig's,' do you mean it will use up a lot of GBs? I'm on a plan with a limit of 25 GBs a month. Technically it's 'unlimited' but after 25 GBs I'm offered the option to buy more GBs or operate at slow speed. So, if the Windows Cleaner is a big users of GBs, then I'll wait until I go into the office again and use their truly unlimited connection.

No. expect 10's of gig's of Microsoft install and updates to be deleted. This can take awhile. It also frees up hard drive space and ram. As for being a new computer then there will be a lot to be deleted as you follow the instructions. Sorry misunderstood that.
