Google Maps has access to my location even when it is disabled. I have tried everything. How do I stop this?
I have disabled Location History on my Google account. I am not talking about Location History. I am talking about direct access to my location. When I google an address, and click directions, I am directed to google Maps, which is fine. But then I see that my location has already been given to Google. I never consented to this. I have specifically disabled location tracking services for Firefox, following over three different tutorials for three different solutions. I have tried other browsers, and disabling all of their location services doesn't work either. I have even resorted to using the Windows hosts file to block maps.google.com, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to successfully block it without also blocking all of Google, which I don't want to do. Please tell me why google maps has my location, and please tell me how to disable it permanently. This is not right.

Don't use Google maps. What Googles does and do isn't something firefox has a say in. You should contact Google support if this is giving you problems.
Hi,
I don't know if you tried to do the following operation

@WestEnd I don't want to use Google Maps. I want Google Maps to not have my location at all times while I'm using my browser for other things.
@hellosct1 Yes I have tried that
Does this website ask for permission to access your location?
If that is the case and you deny or the website isn't using Geo location then there is always your IP that a website can use to do a reverse DNS look up. This is less precise, but is close enough in most cases.
You can use websites like these to see how your location is reported via a reverse DNS look up of your IP:
