Turning off Autocomplete for new Tabs

more options

When I start trying to open multiple tabs at once Firefox autofills the address bar with the address I was at when I hit CTRL+T. I don't know if I'm just doing it too fast, or what is going on but it's really frustrating.

For example, I'll go to reddit, while reddit is loading hit the hotkeys for a new tab, and it'll have reddit autofilled when I want it to be blank because I want to go to twitter or something. It's pretty frustrating and I wind up opening more tabs than I'd like and closing the incorrect ones. Would appreciate some assistance please.
