Hello, need your help. I had to reset Win 10 for instability reasons, then downloaded Tbird but it's a new version. I've tried everything I can think of, including using older 68 profiles from other machines, but my local folders (with several hundred emails) and the address book won't transfer to the new version. Those local folders contain all my important data for years. Help! Thanks

Yes, I did that and with the same result. However it's now moot. With Dell's help, I did a factory reset of Win 10 through the boot menu. Reloaded TB, which worked fine, but the reinstall still doesn't bring along the local folders (or the address book). Am now in the process of transferring all the local folders from another laptop by forwarding them. I'm presuming by doing that, that the "new" local folders will be in my TB 78 profile. Thanks for your assistance and I hope this is now solved.

Thanks for getting back!

First possible problem was the forced download of MS version 2004, including a number of glitches, i.e. right click on an icon resulted in getting the dreaded blue circle spinning and spinning but not opening. Called Dell and they said reset Win 10. Did and then downloaded TB, which turned out to be an upgrade (that I didn't want). Couldn't figure out how to navigate the new interface and transfer my profile, so I did it the traditional way -- troubleshooting, open folder, copy profile, etc. Did that 3 times but the local folders wouldn't transfer. So copied profiles from two other machines and tried them. The last one I tried did bring the local folders along but also an odd thing where most of the email list in the top pane is invisible (see attachment). If I could fix that, all would be well.

Appreciate your assistance.

Mitch

right click the folder, select properties and then the repair button. That forces a reindex of the mail in the folder.

Thanks Matt. Followed your instruction, nothing changed. As you can see, the interface is a mess. I can see the messages by clicking on the green dots, but I think Tbird (on this computer) is completely corrupted. Probably something I did, but don't know what. And if I uninstall/reinstall I get the same screen. If you guys had remote screen control you could probably spot the problem. Thanks to you and christ1 for your help. If anything occurs to you let me know. Cheers Mitch

Hope this isn't too confusing. I needed to reset another one of my laptops so downloaded TB again, but my local folders (with several hundred emails) and the address book won't transfer to the new version. Those local folders, which I imported from Outlook way back, contain all my important data for years. Perhaps I haven't navigated the new interface correctly. Or maybe the old 68 version profiles don't work with the upgrade. Any thoughts?

Try to move one of those messages with the subject being invisible to a different folder. Does that bring back the subject information?

Yes but only in the local folders (see image) and only if I click on the green dot. Is there a way I can delete Mozilla/Tbird permanently and start all over? Reason I ask is that if I uninstall TB and reinstall, the very same corrupted interface is there. I can't get rid of it. Thanks.

From your response I can't tell what you did, and whether you followed the suggestion above to move an affected message to a different folder, preferably to one which isn't affected by the problem. Please stay on topic.

I would not call that a solution. But whatever makes you happy.
