Sorting bookmarks in dropdown menu

more options

Is there a way to sort the bookmarks in the dropdown menu?

I can sort the bookmarks (e.g. by name or date last used) in the "Show All Bookmarks" menu, but this doesn't affect the dropdown menu, which I usually use. Also, if I close the "Show All Bookmarks" menu and reopen it, they are again unsorted.

I just want to quickly navigate to websites I visit often. Having them on top of the Bookmarks dropdown menu would be very useful. Do I need a third party add-on for this?

Hi emma, the standard order is chronological, with the newest at the end. Here is a one way to sort alphabetically, A-Z. There's no Undo for this.

  • Open the Bookmarks Sidebar (Command+b)
  • Right-click (one button: Ctrl+click) Bookmarks Menu in the sidebar
  • Click Sort By Name

For more flexible sorting, or ongoing/automatic sorting, you could consider using an add-on. I've looked at these in the past but haven't used either of them recently:
