Have tried solutions posted over the years, none work. Other browser works fine (Edge). downloaded .exe from mozilla.org, turned off firewall....

tried 4 times by deleting the first, turn off computer, restart, download exe again, install, ....same problem each time!

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select Network.

[56+] Type about:preferences#general<enter> in the address bar. Look for Network. +++++++++++++++++++++ Look for Configure How Firefox Connects and press the Settings button. If you are using a proxy, make sure those settings are correct. If there is no proxy, first try No Proxy. If there is a problem, then try System Proxy.

You can check for issues caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation that is missing runtime components (Redistributable Packages) required by Firefox, especially VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.

See "Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019":

You may not need the latter (32-bit version) if you use 64-bit Firefox. You may have to reboot the computer.

Dear FredMcD This is a brand new computer, no previous system of firefox has been installed, this is a first. On both items for the address bar , the page remains blank same as when I try to use firefox for any searches.

Could you give me things to do when it has been a brand new install on a brand new up to date brand new computer. 64-bit.

( When trying them on edge, I get "hmmm can't reach this page".. thought i might see how those would work with edge.)

Dear cor-el

All of windows elements were updated before firefox exe downloaded and installed, so would presume? that c+++ was up to date. what would be other options. over the years this issue of blank pages on firefox has popped up from others....with a brand new up to date in all windows 10 elements, I am not finding any solutions in prior posts.

thanks so much for your help. always loved firefox, so frustrated it won't work on a brand new clean system on a brand new computer

It is not guaranteed that the C++ runtime components are installed and up to date, so you can still give it a try and (re) these Redistributable Packages if you still have this issue.

Note that uninstalling an application that uses these components can cause these Redistributable Packages to get uninstalled (i.e. a usage counter reaches zero).
