Open tabs from last session but with specific tab active
Hello,
I use FF with the setting on start to restore the tabs of the last session.
Now I need a specific tab active/focused on start. (It is a WebRTC for our phone system and if it not focused at start ring tone will not be played)
Is there a way to start with my last opened tabs restored but this specific tab active and in selected/focused.
Pinning this tab seems to load it but WILL not play a ringtone without clicked first. If I end FF with this tab active and therefore the tab is active on next start the ring tone will be played.
But knowing me I WILL forget to click on this tab either on start or before ending FF.
Regards

Hi, restore might be the wrong word. I use the native FF option to open the browser with the tabs from the last session. (Open previous windows and tabs)
The "problematic" tab is pinned and get loaded. But it needs to be active/focused/in front in order to get the ringtone played.
It is not enough that the tab is loaded in the background. If I close FF with this tab in front/visible on next start this tab is active. If my phone get called the ringtone can be heard even if I opened another tab already.
But as long the tab was never in front and active the ringtone will not be played.
This is the reason why I look for a way always start with this tab in front.
Hi Marco, what comes to mind for me is to move that tab to its own window, since the active tab in every window is restored. You can do that using either:
- Click and drag the tab down an inch (2 cm) to "detach" it from the tab bar to its own window
- Right-click the tab > Move Tab > Move to New Window
Of course, this become a little less visible when it's not in your main window, but...
When Firefox restores the previous session (which is usually), the active tab is the one which was active when I exited. It happens to be the last tab but I don't know whether that matters.
I tried the 2nd window. But here its the same as with a tab which was loaded in background.
If the 1st window is active and not the 2nd the ring tone will not be played.
This tab needs to be in front at some point before the ring tone will be played.
At this point I'll try a autoit script for starting an "activly" clicking in the tab. I hoped for a better solution
PS: Two reasons why I would prefer FF FF is my main browser in Chrome and edge it is necessary to click into the tab to get the ring tone feature activated

Maybe someone has created an add-on to address this problem? You could search on:
I tried the extension page first but was not able to find something. Why I ended up asking here

Pinning even with two windows does not work because it is not guarantied that the correct window is the active one after starting FF.
