Firefox keeps restoring tabs after killing

more options

When I kill Firefox (it is the fastest way to close it) it keeps restoring the previous session in full after a new start. The browser did it 5 times in a row.

While I want to restore only the tabs of current importance.

Here are my configuration settings for restoring after crash.

Please let me know how i can get to Session Restore screen after the second killing.

Thank you!

Go to about:config and change browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0.

When you use this setting (I use it myself), instead of restoring your last session automatically, Firefox should display a screen letting you select specific windows/tabs to restore, or just to start a new session.

That gives you timely control, and allows for the potential scenario of a true crash where you want your tabs back.

But if you never want automatic restoration, that screen would just be an extra step. You could look at this setting instead (note: I have not tested it myself):

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the preference to switch the value from true to false

I think you still would have the "Restore Previous Session" item on the History menu after this change but, again, I have not tested this setting.

Let us know how you decide to handle it.
