There are no column headers so there is no possibility of adding or moving columns in the message list pane

You are in what is called 'Card View' - to switch to table view, - if menu bar is not shown, press alt key - then click view>layout and tick message list header - a 'quick filter' button with a small icon should appear above message list pane - click the small icon to the right of quick filter button and select table view
