Address Bar Relocated - Can't Restore Previous Setting

more options

Hello! I accidentally clicked to restore default setting in the customize toolbar menu, and now all of my tab/address bar/bookmark bar setting and locations are different and I don't like it at all. Previously, the address bar was above the tabs and the full length of the window. Now the tabs are at the top and the address bar is on the same bar as the bookmarks I have saved to the bookmark bar. The address bar goes full length if I remove the bookmark bar but I want to have both on the screen at the same time, on their own bar, as I did before. I have looked through the all of the settings and customize options, and can't find anything that will move my address bar to the top above the tabs, or a way to keep the address bar and bookmark bar open and available separately. Help! Thanks. :)

Hmm, this is a little mixed up.

Yes, that is normal. Did you previously have the Menu Bar at the top? To turn that back on, see: Restore the Menu bar in Firefox.

When you are in the Customize tab, the "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" control should appear on the Bookmarks Toolbar below the main toolbar, and the address bar should be permanently installed in the main toolbar (not movable to the Bookmarks Toolbar). They should not be on the same bar.

There is no built-in feature for that. If you've had that in the past four years, you probably were using custom style rules in a userChrome.css file to change the order of the bars. Did your Firefox perform a full refresh -- the telltale sign is a new Old Firefox Data folder on your Windows desktop.

I don't know how I did it, but I managed to get the address bar and bookmark bar separate before seeing your response, so that's fixed (just don't ask me how I did it)! The only thing I can't figure out now is how to get the home/refresh/back buttons on the left side of the address bar rather than the right. It's not a big deal, and I'll get used to it eventually if I can't fix it, but after years of having them on the left I keep clicking where they used to be. lol

Right-click on one of the icons, choose Customise Toolbar and you can then drag and drop them where you like.
