There was a little icon that looked like a gear piece. When I clicked it, I could add sites that I went to regularly, like my college page or fb or the weather. When I installed java, I was prompted something about the toolbar, don't know what I clicked, but now I just have the File, edit etc; then the https bar with search box; then Most visited, firefox Getting Started and latest Headlines (this is where the little icons would be. I don't know what this is called. I tried to use the "add-ons" but think this is something else. Thx!

Make sure that you have the Bookmarks Toolbar visible: View > Toolbars > [X] Bookmarks Toolbar

  • In Firefox 3.6 versions on Windows and Firefox 4 on Windows and Linux it's possible to hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu of a toolbar.
  • Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
  • Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).
