In Firefox, the word "chrome" refers to the browser frame, toolbars, etc., outside of the page.

This appears to be a problem with one or more of your AVG add-ons. If they were not disabled, you might need to disable or update them.

You can manage add-ons here:

orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Add-ons

In the left column, click the Extensions category.

Yes at least I understand what causes this but how can I fix it? it / the condition locks up my computer and does not allow printing or sending emails . so should I completely uninstall AVG or can I reload a lesser version of fire-fox I am satisfied with both

thanks again

You can disable the AVG extensions without removing AVG from your PC. (Unless you want to change from AVG to some other security suite for other reasons.)

Also, I failed to mention before, but AVG recently updated both its paid and free versions to make the "Safe Search" add-on compatible with Firefox 5. If there is another AVG add-on, you might only only need to disable that one.
