Why does Firefox make .jpg/.jpeg images all cloudy while .png images are not?

Ok so... I got a new laptop and I installed Firefox on it. I am a member of a couple art websites and I have discovered that all the .JPG/.JPEG images on that website are distorted or have a very low cloudy resolution. This does not happen with .jpg/jpeg images on the laptop itself, just with Firefox. Firefox also saves the .jpg and .jpeg images with poor quality.

I am wondering if there is a way to fix this? I never had this happen before on my old laptop which was the same make and model but a few years older. Firefox loaded .jpg and .jpeg images perfectly on my old laptop. It's not a laptop setting; it's Firefox.

Can I fix this? I would like to see images clearly like I did before! I hate missing details because Firefox totally goofs on the quality.

Side note: My running system is Windows 7. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it since my last laptop had Vista. Still... I'm very annoyed. The graphics card on my laptop is top notch (it's a gaming laptop) so the graphics should be fine and yet they are not. As I said this doesn't happen with any other file type (aside from .gif files) just images/files designated .jpg/.jpeg EVEN when the images WERE saved in that format with the highest image quality preservation level.

I noticed tonight that the images I was uploading looked real crappy even though on my hard drive they were fine. Was not doing it before and remembered that they were looking fine the other day before updating. Opened them up in Internet Exploder and they looked just fine. This sucks, switching to Safari till the image thing gets fixed I guess.

If Firefox also saves the images in low quality then you may have an ISP that sends the images compressed in lower quality to speed up the page loading.

If you want to see the original image quality all the time then you need to contact your ISP and ask what to do to opt-out of that service or see if there is a FAQ about it on the web page of your ISP.
